A Texas endorsement slate, a Kansas gift card claim, and a Michigan Senate crossover, Oct 31 to Nov 1

· Covfefe Desk · recap, midterms, endorsements, texas, kansas, michigan

This note covers @realDonaldTrump posts on Truth Social from Saturday afternoon, Oct 31, through early Monday, Nov 2 UTC. It was the final weekend before the Tuesday, Nov 3 midterm elections, and the feed reflected that. Nearly every post was an endorsement, an early voting notice, or a rally announcement. None of the posts in this window dealt with markets, prices, trade, or economic data.

The endorsement run, state by state

The posts came in batches, one state at a time, each ending with a "GET OUT AND VOTE FOR" slate that listed every candidate in the batch.

  • New York (Saturday, Oct 31, around 19:50 UTC): 11 posts, covering Bruce Blakeman for governor, Saritha Komatireddy for attorney general, and House candidates from the 1st through the 22nd districts.
  • Michigan (Saturday, around 20:51 UTC): 9 posts, including Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate and John James for governor.
  • Kansas and Iowa (Sunday, Nov 1, around 15:21 to 15:48 UTC): 6 Kansas posts, including Roger Marshall for Senate and Ty Masterson for governor, and 7 Iowa posts, including Ashley Hinson for Senate and Zach Lahn for governor.
  • Texas (Sunday, from about 18:59 to 19:29 UTC): 35 posts in roughly half an hour. The closing slate post listed Ken Paxton for U.S. Senate, Greg Abbott for governor, Dan Patrick for lieutenant governor, statewide row offices, and House candidates across the state.

The Texas slate is here on Truth Social.

Early voting notices went out for New York, Michigan, and Florida on Saturday and for Iowa and Kansas on Sunday. Saturday also carried two TeleRally announcements, one for Florida at 4:45pm ET and one for Michigan at 5:15pm ET.

A gift card claim in Wichita (Sunday, Nov 1)

At 18:46 UTC on Sunday, a post relayed a claim from the Kansas attorney general:

I have just been informed by the Great Attorney General of Kansas, Kris Kobach, that a Radical Left PAC operative was caught on camera going door to door in Wichita offering gift cards to people for votes. We have photographic evidence. This is a Criminal Offense! Press release attached.

Source post. The post linked a press release from the Kansas attorney general's office titled "Kobach Orders Bluestem Kansas to Cease and Desist Offering Gift Cards to Voters." Readers who want the specifics of the allegation should read that release directly; this note does not assess it.

A Democratic endorsement in the Michigan Senate race (Sunday, Nov 1)

At 18:38 UTC, a post said that Rep. Haley Stevens had endorsed Republican Mike Rogers for the Michigan Senate seat:

Wow, this is BIG! Congresswoman Haley Stevens, a Highly Respected Democrat, who narrowly lost in the Primary to Abdul Mohamed El-Sayed, and who has been breathlessly wined and dined by the Dumocrats to help in their Michigan Campaign for the United States Senate against Mike Rogers, has just ENDORSED Mike Rogers for Senate!

Source post. The same text was reshared about an hour later.

Legal posts

Two posts on Sunday dealt with legal matters. At 19:29 UTC, a post said that "The Fake Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr., has DISAPPEARED!" and named several lawyers and political donors (source post). At 23:51 UTC, a post shared a Times Union headline:

NY prosecutor claims Letitia James' office directed him to target Trump

Source post.

Travel and rallies

Posts on Saturday evening ET linked event pages for stops in Dubuque, Iowa, and Salina, Kansas. On Sunday a post said:

Heading to lowa, and then, so importantly, Kansas (Will be my last stop!), to make sure our Great Patriots get out and vote

Source post. Image and video posts over the weekend included a road sign reading "President Donald J Trump Highway," a ballot guide image, and rally crowd footage posted early Monday UTC.
